Long Term Care Insurance
Like other forms of health insurance, long term care insurance companies must approve you for coverage based upon your health history. You may be accepted with a history of cancer, joint replacements or problems controlling your blood pressure. However,
the insurance company will need to know these issues are now stable or controlled and not affecting your daily activities.
There are a number of conditions which will preclude you from obtaining long term care insurance. For example, a diagnosis of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, strokes with residual effects, diabetes requiring insulin, the use of crutches a walker or four prong cane, recent bouts of cancer or even unexplained weight loss can make you uninsurable for long term care insurance. This is only a partial list and your specific situation should be discussed with an agent specializing in long term care insurance. Preferably an agent who represents multiple long term care insurance companies as different companies will have different underwriting guidelines.
