New research on the cost of long-term care in Texas

Long-term care costs exceed $124,000 yearly

Texas long-term care costs continue to rise according to CareScout® and their latest national study. This makes Texas long-term care insurance a necessity for all but the very wealthy.

In 2024, the median cost of a Texas long-term care facility was $80,300 ($220/Day) for one year of care. The average length of care needed is 3 years which would total $240,900 at today’s cost and $435,093 by 2044 ($145,031 per year).

The McAllen and Midland areas have the highest long-term care costs with nursing home rates over $124,000 per year ($340/day). College Station, El Paso and Lubbock have the second highest LTC facility rates in Texas at $109,500 per year ($300/day).
